Job Description

As an HVAC/R Technician at GSK, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and improving our facility’s HVAC and refrigeration systems. You’ll work collaboratively with a team of professionals, troubleshoot and repair equipment, and contribute to a safe and efficient workplace. As an HVAC/R Technician, you will be responsible to operate, maintain, and install mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, electronic instrumentation used for the operation of Refrigeration /HVAC systems for the Marietta GSK Facility and its infrastructure. Lead the HVAC/R team by way of example as a high performing technician; self-starter, collaborative, positive, problem solver.

Refrigeration/HVAC Equipment Maintenance:
-
Experience with programing HVAC/R controls
-
Monitor, maintain, and manage site Refrigeration/HVAC equipment. such as Chillers, Cooling Towers, Cold Boxes/Freezers/etc., and AHU’s
-
Basic understanding of steam
-
-
Work Order Planning:
-
Schedule PMs and regulatory inspections with outside vendors.
-
Plan and schedule work orders with input from equipment owners and Engineering dept. planner.
-

Asset Management
-
Define scope of work needed for asset modifications, upgrades, or new equipment
-
Create and manage reports on projects (scope of work, quotes, SMRs, POs, and job completion).
-

Technical Support:
-
Provide Refrigeration/HVAC technical support and guidance to skilled trade groups.
-
Stay knowledgeable in related laws, regulations, and engineering standards.
-

Mentorship:
-
Onboard, mentor, and model behaviors and standards for Refrigeration/HVAC technicians.
-
Ensure adherence to EHS/Quality/Engineering standards.
-

Audit Representation:
-
Represent your trade area in regulatory audits.
-

Compliance Management:
-
Manage and participate in change controls, CAPAs, deviations, investigations, and self-inspections.
-
Proficiently review, approve, and use SOPs and check sheets.
-
-
On Call:
-
Cover periodic on call rotation

Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
-
Must possess an Associate’s Degree in Refrigeration, HVAC, or a related field; OR prior military experience with relevant technical expertise in refrigeration/HVAC systems.

EPA Certification for Refrigerant Handling and other relevant industry certifications
-
Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in refrigeration system maintenance and HVAC operations, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
-
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work on-site.
-
Required to be on-site. Job may require working longer hours and performing more tasks during both shutdowns each year.
-
Experience using Work order systems (SAP) and documentation.
-
Basic computer skills. (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
-
Journeyman HVAC-R license, Passing International Code Council Certification exam
-
Proven ability to work independently while mentoring junior technicians and leading projects in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledgeable in ASHRAE content
-
Preferred 8+ years’ experience as a technician in an industrial/commercial environment.
-
Preferred 3-5 years’ experience working with BMS system to control and operate HVAC/R equipment.

Preferred experience with SAP systems
-
Preferred experience with food and/or pharmaceutical industry.
-
Experience working on process and utilities systems.
-
Basic understanding of steam
-
Ability to troubleshoot and a general mechanical aptitude.
-
Good verbal and written communication skills.
