Job Description
Over the last 20 years, the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) has distinguished itself as one of the fastest-growing art museums in North America. With an expansive campus, we are currently seeking experienced full-time HVAC Maintenance Mechanic II’s to perform installations and preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of HVAC equipment such as; oil burners – both residential and commercial, low pressure commercial steam boilers <150 bhp, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, packaged roof top units greater than 10 tons and other mechanical plant equipment and systems. You must also be able to safely and efficiently use hand and power tools, ladders, automated man lifts, and other equipment in the performance of your duties. You must be able to lift 50 pounds, spend extended periods on your feet, and work in loud, hot, and cold environments. Generally, you will work 40 hour per week on shifts from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. In addition to working some overtime, you must be available to work occasional weekends, and respond to off – hour emergencies as and when needed.

You must also possess excellent problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to read blueprints, plans and schematics as well as work efficiently with computer software.
High School Diploma and a certificate or diploma from a recognized institution above the high school level, as evidence of completion of a two year program in refrigeration and heating are required. You must possess a current and valid Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician’s License, and a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. A 1st class fireman’s license, a pipefitter’s license, and/or NATE certification is desirable but not required.Knowledge and direct experience in the operation of building automation systems is required. Specific knowledge with Schneider Electric’s Structureware, and/or Johnson Controls Metasys systems is highly desirable.
