Job Description
Toronto based HVAC and Electrical Construction and Engineering firm is seeking an Operations Manager.
Minimum 7 years of experience in Canada in managing HVAC Operations for industrial, commercial and institutional clients.
Salary package and benefits negotiable based on experience and include company performance based future share ownership.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Responsible for ensuring efficient and profitable operations while maintaining quality, health and safety standards. Key to this role will be the review of company operating procedures and management of the HVAC and Electrical Operations departments as well as overseeing all project work performed by employees and subcontractors working for the company. Responsible for P&L of the company.
Oversee tendering and monitoring of contracts
Review proposed HVAC and mechanical design changes and provide feedback to project managers
Supervise, approve claims and negotiate with clients and obtain their approval for claims for change orders and delays if caused by the client
Attend site meetings when necessary
Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety best practices, including the delivery of related training requirements for staff as applicable
Provide monthly progress report on projects and develop and implement procedure for reporting accounting provisions to be taken on a monthly basis.
Mechanical Engineer (preferably with P.Eng certification), service driven, professional, courteous with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
A self-starter who works well both independently and in a team environment and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
Must be analytical, detail oriented, have strong problem-solving abilities and be able to multi-task.
EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Minimum of 7 years of previous experience in managing operations in Canada
Experience and knowledge of project management
Knowledge of engineering concepts related to central heating, cooling, ventilation and base building systems, including computer-based building automation systems
Knowledge of fire and life safety systems
Knowledge of applicable legislation governing industry
Knowledge of purchasing, tendering and quotations processes
Application Software literate (MS projects, Primavera, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
Strong coaching/mentoring, and motivational skills
Ability to understand financial statements.
