Job Description

Purpose

Maintain heating/air conditioning systems, identify repair and, or replacement needs, provide necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment, and assist other skilled trades as required. Assist in the repair and maintenance of refrigeration, HVAC, heating and ventilation equipment to ensure customer needs are met efficiently and accurately.

Essential Duties
•Perform all aspects of air conditioning cleaning and maintenance
•Cleans air conditioning units (e.g. coils, condensation pans, drain lines, etc.) to ensure units are operating correctly
•Use gauges to add and recover refrigerant on small units (self-contained cases)
•Use basic welding skills to perform maintenance and repairs
•Use basic understanding of refrigerant flow within system and basic isolation techniques on small systems (self-contained cases) to perform maintenance and repairs
•Use basic understanding of the principles of refrigeration and heating and cooling systems to perform maintenance and repairs
•Understand the fundamentals of superheat
•Use basic understanding of electricity and control circuits (self-contained cases) to perform maintenance and repairs
•Use and understand the functions of an electrical multi-meter
•Learn and move ahead with company provided training and maintain at a minimum Type I EPA license
•Prepare documentation (e.g. paperwork, logs, time and materials, specifications, etc.) providing written support in compliance with regulations and, or conveying information
•Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items to complete the necessary installation/repair/cleaning
•Coordinate with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work-orders efficiently
•Maintain tools and, or equipment to ensure the safe working order of the equipment
•Notify area/district management about emergency situations during, or after hours for the purposes of resolving immediate safety concerns
•Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
•Safely operate company vehicle, maintain its appearance inside and out, have it serviced for scheduled maintenance, or repairs, and maintain and update an orderly parts inventory
•Process SMS reference numbers for maintenance using provided mobile technology

Required Skills •Basic knowledge of commercial ice machines, HVAC, refrigeration, gas furnaces and electrical functions, including troubleshooting electrical components
•Basic troubleshooting ability
•Basic mechanical skills
•Ability to lift up to 40lbs
•Ability to climb on rooftops
•Listen and comprehend written and oral instructions
•Good communications skills
•Customer service skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external customers
•Good driving record
Required Experience •Certificate from HVAC/R program
•High school diploma or GED
