LSU Health – New Orleans, Division of Facility Services is seeking motivated applicants for the position of HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic. Persons applying should possess knowledge, skill and two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, inspection, alteration and repair of large commercial or institutional heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Applicants must possess the ability to: communicate effectively in English; carry, erect, climb, and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work on roofs, cat walks, and other elevated surfaces; carry or otherwise move loads up to 50 pounds; work outdoors in inclement weather and high temperatures; and, observe people and equipment in the work area to avoid injuries or damage. As of November 14, 1994 employees must possess the appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).

Preferred requirements include experience with: Building Automation; chiller operation; closed loop circulation pump maintenance and repair; pneumatic & electronic HVAC controls operation, maintenance and repair; air compressor and air dryer equipment operation, maintenance and repair; and cooling tower operation, maintenance and repair.

There is a Special Entrance Rate for this title of $16.73 per hour.
