Job Description
LSU Health – New Orleans, Division of Facility Services is seeking motivated applicants for the position of HVAC/Refrigeration Master Mechanic. Persons applying should possess knowledge, skill and three (3) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, inspection, alteration and repair of large commercial or institutional heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Applicants must possess the ability to: communicate effectively in English; carry, erect, climb, and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work on roofs, cat walks, and other elevated surfaces; carry or otherwise move loads up to 50 pounds; work outdoors in inclement weather and high temperatures; and, observe people and equipment in the work area to avoid injuries or damage. As of November 14, 1994 employees must possess the appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).
Preferred requirements include four (4) years of advanced experience with: chiller operation; closed loop circulation pumps maintenance and repair; pneumatic HVAC controls repair and operation; air compressors and air dryer equipment repair, operation and maintenance; plus experience with Building Automated Controls operations and cooling tower repairs, maintenance and operations.
There is a Special Entrance Rate for this title of $20.70 per hour.
