Job Description
The Nautical Group is a retained executive search firm partnering with clients to identify and recruit outstanding individuals capable of serving key disciplines at all levels. Our firm has been retained by Freedom Industries to conduct a search for their Industrial Mechanical Project Manager. Based in Rocky Mount, Freedom Industries is a faith-based, employee-owned organization focused on mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fabrication projects for industrial facilities mostly within the eastern North Carolina footprint. The Industrial Mechanical Project Manager will lead mechanical projects at $750K and above. The role is responsible for project management, large material purchases, and the safety of the construction team. This role will work with multiple site Project Managers, Engineers, Customers, and Suppliers and will lead Superintendents, Project Coordinators, Project Engineers and field personnel while overseeing all project activity. The Project Manager may also be assigned projects that an estimator has been awarded. This role This role will be expected to excel at relationship building with current and prospective clients.
Essential Functions:
- Lead by example in championing Freedom Industries Mission Statement and Core Values in daily duties
- Model, communicate and enforce Safety Management Processes/Policies
- Prepare, schedule, and present a Project Execution Plan (PEP) to upper management on projects larger than $250K
- Manage the team to complete all work safely, on time, and on budget
- Direct, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, schedule, motivate, communicate with, lead, develop and discipline direct reports
- Identify and evaluate possible areas for cost savings in both the estimate and project execution phases
- Initiate, document, estimate, and manage all change orders in accordance with the Change Order SOP
- Ensure proper documentation control is adhered to per ‘Job Folders’ SOP
- Prepare detailed listing of material, equipment, and subcontract items from the estimate, obtain quotes, and purchase
- Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specs. Responsible for the timely completion of all customer bid-related documents
- Champion of all organization SOP’s. Learn, ask questions, teach others, lead
- Responsible for hitting yearly Gross Profit goals and preparing complete and accurate monthly financial projections
- Thorough understanding and implementation of company established Phase Codes in budgeting and project execution
- Admin Duties (Approve AP & AR Invoices, Close/Adjust PO’s, Manage Project Closeout Documentation, etc.)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years of experience in preparing industrial mechanical construction estimates
- 5 years of experience using estimating software to prepare estimates
- Unlimited License in NC preferred
- Must have a clear background that will allow you to make job site visits
- Must be able to walk job sites and climb stairs during these visits
- Must have and keep a valid and in good standing NC driver’s license
- Must have thorough knowledge of all aspects of mechanical construction (technology, equipment, methods, etc.) as well as an understanding of Company and industry practices, processes and standards and their impact on project activities
